In 1994, Sheriff Tom Wall instituted an
achievement award for Deputies and Officers who have distinguised themselves in
the routine performance of their duties. Each year the Dickson County Sheriffs
Office selects an Employee of the Year.
The criteria for nomination and selection is
rigid. Each Shift Supervisor prepares and presents their nomination for
the Employee of the Year award to their respective Department Head.
The nomination is a detailed synopsis of why the nominated Employee should
receive the award including any outstanding achievements or actions during the
nomination year. The Supervisor does not necessarily have to select an Employee
from under thier span of control. The competition is extensive and the
nominations are all consistently excellent. The final decisions for Employee of
the Year are made by a panel consisting of the Sheriffs Office four (4)
Department Heads and the Chief Deputy.
The recipients of these Awards receive a personal plaque, a Letter of
Commendation from the Sheriff and their names are put on an Employee of the Year
plaque located in the Dickson County Sheriff's Office front lobby.
The Awards are delivered at an DCSO Christmas Banquet complete with an Official
Presentation from the Sheriff and photographs for inclusion on this page as well
as for publication in our local newspaper, The
Dickson Herald.
