Jail

The Dickson County Sheriff's Office  operates 2 jails located in Charlotte, a women's facility and  a men's facility. The women's facility was built in 1978 to house  48 misdemeanor prisoners. The Men's facility was built in 1995  to house 120 inmates. At present there are approximately 230  inmates housed in the Dickson County Jails. On weekends the population sometimes exceeds 300.

The Sheriff's Office has 48 Corrections Deputies. Jail Administration works Monday thru Friday, eight (8) hours per day excluding holidays. The Jail Administration consists of 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant. The Jail Staff is divided into three (3), eight (8) hour shifts, seven (7) days per week including holidays. Each shift consists of 1 Sergeant, 1 Corporal and 11 Deputies. The Sheriff's Office has a Jail Nurse that works Monday thru Friday excluding holidays but is on-call after hours.

Visitors must follow all facility rules while visiting. Failure to follow all rules will result in loss of visitation privileges. Visitors must call twenty-four hours prior and make an appointment before they can visit  any inmate. All visitors must be properly dressed. No see-through clothing or gang affiliated colors are permitted. Visitors must  have proper identification before entering the jail. Minors may  visit relatives in the jail when accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years old and must act appropriately during visits. Visiting hours vary and the day of week will depend on which  pod the inmate is housed in. Each inmate has a 1 hour visit per week. For more information call 789-4109.

The Dickson County Jail does not accept incoming telephone  calls for the inmates. Each cell block or (pod) has a telephone  for the inmates to use. Only outgoing calls can be made from  this phone and there is a charge to the person accepting the  call. The person accepting the call is asked in advance if they  will accept the charges for the call. The phone system can place  a block on any phone number so that an inmate can not call that  number. If you have had any problems from an inmate trying to  call your number you may contact the Jail between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM (615)789-4109 to have them place a block on your phone number.

The Dickson County Jail does not accept property or food items  from outside the facility. Personal hygiene items may be brought  to the inmate within the first 72 hours he/she is in custody. The Dickson County Jail does have a Commissary Program which an inmate can purchase personal hygiene and other items needed.

If you need more information you may call the Booking desk  at 789-4109 for MALE INMATES or 789-7027 for FEMALE INMATES.
