Trustee's Office

The County Trustee's Office acts as Treasurer for all of the funds of Dickson County Government, including the Dickson County School System.  In this capacity, the Office of the Trustee is bound by law to collect all county real and personal property taxes, to keep a fair regular account of all money received for County Government, and to invest temporarily idle County funds.  Hotel/Motel Occupancy Taxes are also collected by the Trustee's Office.  The Trustee also disperses sales tax revenues.

The Dickson County Trustee is elected at large for a four year term. The current Trustee is Glynda B Pendergrass. Glynda has served as Trustee since September 1, 2002..

Dickson County property taxes begin to accrue on January 1 and continue through December 31 of the same year.

The Dickson County Commissioners set the annual tax rate, usually in July, after which time, the tax roll is prepared by the State of Tennessee Division of Property Assessment.  The Trustee's office receives the tax roll, prints notices, and mails them by October 1st of each year.  The payment period for County taxes begins on the first Monday in October and continues through the last day of February of the following year.  On March 1, County taxes become delinquent and begin to accrue 1 ½% per month Penalty and Interest.

Tennessee law does not require the mailing of tax notices indicating the amount of taxes due.  Owners of property are presumed to know that taxes are due without personal notice.  Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the responsibility of payment, nor is this a reason for penalty and interest charges to be canceled if the tax bill becomes delinquent.
